I may not be able to upload the scanned file on time. But, check out the following script.

___________________________________

Experiment No. 7

AIM:
To perform logical operations (using all the logic gates) in LabView.

SOFTWARE REQUIRED:
National Instruments LabVIEW 7.1

PROCEDURE:
1. Open 'LabView 7.1' from 'Start'->'Programs' menu.
2. Open 'NewVI' using 'File' menu. Two windows - 'Front Panel' and 'Block Diagram' will applear.
3. Tile the two windows Left and Right using 'Windows' menu.
4. In the 'Block Diagram' window, right click on the white workspace. A 'functions' toolbox will appear.
5. Insert an 'AND' gate from 'All Functions'->'Boolean' tab in the functions toolbox.
6. Right Click on one of the input terminals of 'AND' gate and insert a 'control' from 'create' menu. Name it as 'x'.
7. Again repeat the above step for other input terminal of 'AND' gate. Name it as 'y'.
8. Right Click on the output terminal of 'AND' gate and insert an 'indicator' from 'create' menu.
9. In the 'Front Panel' window, change the boolean states of 'x' and 'y' inputs by clicking on them.
10. Select 'Run' option from 'Operate' menu.
11. Note down the status of 'indicator' - output LED.
12. Repeat the above 3 steps for different input states.
13. Compare the observations obtained with the truth table of AND gate.
14. Save the 'VI' using 'save' option from 'File' menu.
15. Repeat the above experiment for different logic gates as listed below.
i. AND
ii. OR
iii. Exclusive OR
iv. NOT
v. NOT AND
vi. NOT OR
vii. NOT Exclusive OR

Pencil Work:
Draw all logic gates with two inputs and one output.
Draw output with two input buttons labelled x and y and one ouput.
Draw truth table for each gate.

3. Tile the two windows Left and Right using 'Windows' menu.
4. In the 'Block Diagram' window, right click on the white workspace. A 'functions' toolbox will appear.
5. Insert an 'Add' function from 'All Functions'->'Numeric' tab in the functions toolbox.
6. Right Click on one of the input terminals of 'Add' function and insert a 'control' from 'create' menu. Name it as 'x'.
7. Again repeat the above step for other input terminal of 'Add' function. Name it as 'y'.
8. Right Click on the output terminal of 'Add' function and insert an 'indicator' from 'create' menu.
9. In the 'Front Panel' window, change the numeric values of 'x' and 'y' inputs.
10. Select 'Run' option from 'Operate' menu.
11. Note down the output value.
12. Repeat the above 3 steps for different numeric values.

14. Repeat the above experiment for different arithmetic functions as listed below.
i. Add
ii. Subtract
iii. Multiply
iv. Divide

Pencil Work:
Draw all arithmetic functions with two numeric inputs and one output.
Draw output with two input boxes labelled x and y and one ouput.
Write Output as -> 2 + 3 = 5, 25 + 10 = 35

CN - Assignment No. 2

Here is the link for downloading CN - Assignment no. 2 (The Application Layer). Last date for its submission is the coming Wednesday.

It is a small assignment consisting of just 8 pages. Oh, I almost forgot to mention that it is 8 pages both sides. I guess it is actually a long assignment. That explains why it took me 5 hours to make it. But don't blame me. 'Application Layer' is a complete 100 pages chapter in 'Tannenbaum' and a complete unit with 5 chapters in 'Forouzan' and the worse part is that I referred both.

Well, anyhow, here is the link. You can cut it down if you want to.

It's a long Weekend, & here's a long "To Do List"

Saturday and Sunday are off (obviously) + Monday is a holiday (Gurupurab - Guru Nanak ji's b'day) + Tuesday is a holiday too (since "the PM is coming").
So, in total 4 consecutive holidays.
Happy?

Well, think again.

Here's a long TO DO LIST
1 - CN Assignment (date of submission - 4th Nov, Wed)
2 - EM Assignment (date of submission - 6th Nov, Fri)

for Group 2 ->
3 - PS Lab - 1 Exp (date of submission - 4th Nov, Wed)
4 - IS Lab - 3 Exp (date of submission - 5th Nov, Thu)
5 - EM Lab - 3 Exp (date of submission - 5th Nov, Thu)
6 - mP Lab - 5 Exp (date of submission - 6th Nov, Fri)

Also, internal viva of all the subjects (PS, IS, EM, mP) will be held next week (of all the groups).

And be prepared for the seminar. All the BEST.

Enjoy! :)

What's up for Monday?

After a long weekend (for students who weren't at the Conference), Monday is here with a lot of things lined up.

1) Since Nisha Tayal mam is on leave for this week, her lectures may be substituted by Deepak Sir. So, tomorrow morning may begin with EM at 9 am.

2) Since last lecture with Preetika Mam was not very smooth, tomorrow she may ask someone to come in front and explain ADCs. So better be prepared.

3) And, how can we forget, Computer Networks assignment is due for tommorow, which is very long and worth 5 marks. But, since the lecture is after the break, at 1 pm, you still have a chance.

4) Finally, we may get to see answer sheets of Power Systems of both 1st and 2nd sessionals tomorrow. All fingers crossed.

CN Assignment - Hand Written

Finally made the assignment. Sorry it is not available in pdf format since my Acrobat Adobe Reader has stopped responding. So, I am directly uploading the pics. Its a long assignment, with 14 pages, even after i've cut down so many things. If you haven't yet started, Good Luck!

Lecture Notes for 19th Oct

College started at 11 a.m (officially) on account of "Bhaiya Dooj" today. IS Lecture at 11 a.m. didn't take place, no attendance also, instead mam distributed some 2nd sessional papers to students. Not many students had come today ( approx. half of the class was absent). Two lectures took place, from 1 to 2, whose download links are given here.

Power Systems (view) (download)
Computer Networks (view) (download)

At the end of CN lecture, 1st Sessional sheets were distributed.
An assignment of CN (worth 5 marks) has been given which is to be submitted by next Monday. It should be hand written and should include:
1) Collision free protocols
2) Limited contention protocols
3) Wireless protocols

PS Assignment Due

Due date for the submission of Power System assignment is 22ndSept, Tuesday (i.e. Tomorrow) .

If you haven't made it yet, no need to get excited reading this, cause if you're expecting that this post has link to the assignment, then i'm sorry, i haven't too made the assignment.

So, I guess, there's a long night ahead for both you and me.

For some completely lost people, the assignment was given to us last monday and should contain:
1. Protection of EHV lines
2. Why overcurrent relays are not used for protection of long transmission lines?
3. What are pilot relays? Discuss working and application in power system.
